The product we used for this patio job was Indian slate, which is a more designed type of patio. We relayed from scratch by digging down 8 inches then brought up to ground level which afterwards was back filled with limestone which brought it back up to level for drainage purposes. Membrane was placed on top of the limestone in which shortly after the Indian slates were laid on a full bed of mortar to support the heavy Indian slate. Joints were back filled with Romex which is a self draining two part joint filler that ties the Indian slate together, this is ideal for where drainage is an issue.
